Early 20th Century Antique White Ironstone English Plain Ceramic Ham Stand

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A wonderful example of white ironstone ware at its finest, in mint condition. Ceramic ham stands were commonly used in shops in the early part of the twentieth Century. They were used to display the meats and hams that provision and grocers shops had available for sale.

This plain white ironstone ham stand dates from the early 20th Century. In mint condition, there is just some minor wear to the base of the ham stand from where the unglazed part has stood. There are no chips, cracks or crazing.

These ham stands are great examples of plain white ironstone at its finest. It is a heavy and quality antique piece, which shows off the quality of ironstone. In a cotton reel shape, the styling is simple yet gives a very grand impression, and they make for excellent display pieces in their own right. Yet they are also so useful to proudly display meats on when entertaining too.
