Rare Antique 1930s Harris Sausages and Bacon Advertising Pig Money Box
This is a very rarely seen example of a 1930s butchers shop advertising pig.
Advertising the famous Harris range of pork products (bacon and sausages), this piggy bank would have sat atop a butchers shop counter, designed to be used for tips. Although the money slot was quite large to shake the money from, there was no hole on the base to take the money out of. Due to this, they were often broken.
So this little piggy is a very rare survivor. It’s also rare to see them in such fine condition, complete with the original “Harris” advertising logo across the belly. Aside from a tiny flake of glaze which has come away on the tip of the ear, this pig is also in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks and just a little bit of wear to the original paint on the pig’s nose, tongue and ears.
