Antique 1930s Shop Advertising Glass Display Jar – Carr’s Biscuits
A scarcely found antique shop advertising display piece for Carr’s Biscuits, dating from the 1920s.
This is a wonderful antique advertising piece, which would look wonderful on display or even used once again to store biscuits in.
Dating from the early part of the 20th Century, this glass advertising jar would have sat on a shop counter filled with Carr’s Biscuits, which would have been sold loosely from this jar. Across the front of the jar is the Carr’s Biscuits logo in fantastic rich blue etching.
Considering the age of this piece, it is in fantastic condition. The vividness of the blue etching on the front of the jar is particularly striking. There are some odd scuff marks on the etching but there is very little fading to it. There is one small chip in the top rim of the jar, although this can’t be seen with the lid on. This is quite common with old shop jars such as this, since they would have been in daily use at the time. The lid on this piece has also corroded as can be seen in the photographs. However, the colour has not changed and it gives the piece an added element of timeworn charm. There are is also some wear and odd marks to the base, but again these do not detract from the overall condition.
Overall, it’s a really stunning piece of antique advertising.
